Synopsis
Gregg Wallace sets off to explore South Africa's most iconic and best loved landscapes and experiences - along with its glorious food. The culinary expert visits six key destinations on his tour - he goes on safari in Amakhala, visits Cape Town, Augrabies Falls in the Kalahari Desert, the Whale Coast, Soweto in Johannesburg and the Garden Province - aiming to get a taste of the real South Africa. Along the wild coast, on safari, through vast savannahs and into the cities Gregg discovers the flavours this diverse country has to offer - from the winelands around Cape Town to an Afrikaans braai in the Kalahari desert at sunset, Soweto's street food stalls selling fat cakes, and traditional hearty dishes like bobotie.

- 1. Safari in AmakhalaNow viewing2021-01-05Gregg starts his journey around South Africa by going on safari at the Amakhala Game Reserve in the Eastern Cape.
- 2. Cape Town2021-01-12Gregg visits the mother city - Cape Town - where he heads up to the highest point of the city, Table Mountain, and tastes Cape Malay cuisine in picturesque Bo Kaap. In the lush green valleys of the wine lands of the Western Cape, he samples the local wine and an authentic South African dish - bobotie.

Paddling down river, Gregg overnights at Khamkhirri Lodge and has a traditional Afrikaans braai (or barbecue). He then heads into the heart of the desert where he faces a tough taste challenge and is surprised by a secret spring.
- 4. Whale Coast2021-01-26Gregg takes a 300-kilometre road trip along the stunning coast of the Western Cape heading for Gansbaai, otherwise known as Shark Town. He stops for lunch at the South African fish and chip shop, releases rehabilitated African Penguins back into the wild and meets his match on a boat trip through shark alley.
- 5. Soweto, Johannesburg2021-02-02The MasterChef presenter takes a tuk tuk ride to explore the colourful and energetic township of Soweto just outside Johannesburg, home of both Desmond Tutu and Nelson Mandela. He dishes up lunch in a school canteen and learns the lively gum boot dance.
- 6. The Garden Province2021-02-09From Durban Gregg takes a helicopter ride up into the remote and beautiful Zulu Kingdom in the Garden Province. He flies above the iconic Rorke's Drift battle site and meets the ancestor of a Zulu warrior. For lunch he heads into the lush valleys for some home-cooked food in a traditional Zulu village.
