Synopsis
'Kaali Peeli Tales' is an anthology of six bitter-sweet short stories that capture the essence of love, relationships and life in Mumbai. The six unique stories revolve around young and urban characters on the crossroads of change and acceptance. The films are centered around themes like infidelity, open marriage, homosexuality, divorce and love in the times of social media. Each film has a unique perspective on love, romance and modern day relationships and asks few relevant questions along side. The resolution of each story takes place in the iconic Kaali-Peeli taxi. A symbol of Mumbai, the cab works as a metaphor for the 'journey of life and relationships' and binds all six stories together.

1. Marriage 2.0Now viewing2021-08-20Malini, a vivacious advertising executive, is in a stagnant but happy marriage with Ashwin, the managing director of a paper manufacturing firm. The monotony of their married life forces Malini to question if they will possibly end up cheating on each other. A conversation between them leads them to go on a double date with their respective crushes from work, Pushparaj and Karuna. As the fun evening rolls, the four of them end up getting to know a lot about each other and themselves. Malini and Ashwin unearth their inner desires and come face to face to face with the fractures beginning to form in their marriage, but they also find their silver linings along the way, the ability to stay honest and be friends before spouses. Marriage 2.0 is a light and fun film that questions the existence of the traditional concept of marriage.
2. Harra Bharra2021-08-20'Harra Bharra' is the story about a crisp, refreshing emotional bond shared between broken families. Suchi's mom, Nina and her dad, Vikram have come together after a long time for an important evening in her life. After being divorced for 14 years, they have finally come together for their daughter. Some ups and downs along the night, makes Suchi realize that her parents' love for her will always remain the same irrespective of their separation. They would never think twice before uniting for their daughter. The evening's events take a sweet turn as the family gets to bond after a long time.
3. Love in Tadoba2021-08-20Set in Irai resort of Tadoba, we follow the story of Ankit and Riya who start off as strangers and go through a roller coaster of emotions for each other. Ankit is an upcoming social media influencer and Riya is a travel blogger. Ankit is a fun-loving , adventurous and a people's person. Riya is the complete opposite of him, she is an old school and reserved person. They have been presented with an opportunity to share their experiences of the resort with their audiences. Eventually, while exploring Tadoba and the places in its vicinity, they get to know each other a little deeper. They share their fears, hopes, dreams and vulnerabilities. They begin to fall for each other but will their fears be an obstacle to profess their love for each other.
4. Single Jhumka2021-08-20Every relationship has its share of ups and downs, they go through on the basis of love and trust but what happens when the trust is broken? The steady courtship of Ashima, a theatre actor and Suhail, a businessman, goes for a toss when one of the two becomes prey to infidelity. They both love each other but what caused this crack in their relationship? Every time Ashima is bothered by something, she resorts to some 'me time', but will this issue between Suhail and her find its resolution so easily? Will she ever be able to come to peace with her reality? Do people deserve a second chance? Set in Mumbai, this short is a relatable story about the void of excitement and healthy communication that exists in most urban relationships.
5. Fish Fry aur Coffee2021-08-20Aslam and Vicky are both released from the jail after completing their sentence period. Upon their release, both have a very different perspective to life - Aslam is full of hope about the future and Vicky is still doomed into his past. Aslam tries to connect with people from his past to relive the old memories, in hope to refurbish his present. Vicky is welcomed home by his mother and his girlfriend, Mansi, but the regret of his mistakes continue to haunt him. A destined encounter with Aslam, forces Vicky to cross the threshold of his past How much do they reconcile with themselves? How much do they have to let go? Set in Vasai, 'Fish Fry aur Coffee' is a heart-wrenching story about regret, loss, trauma and forgiveness.
6. Loose Ends2021-08-20Kartik is married to Anushri, who is a successful television journalist from Mumbai. After being married for more than 7 years, Anushri is excited to start a family of her own. But her husband is not quite ready for it. She, being a diligent and understanding wife, is conflicted whether she should go with her husband's wish or follow her own motherly instincts. Kartik's battle is more internal. His life's biggest conundrum is coming in terms with his own sexuality. His love for his boyfriend, Cris and his responsibilities towards Anushri has put him in a dilemma. Cris is tired of being kept a secret and wants his boyfriend to walk away from his marriage to be with him. He is brave and unapologetic about himself and his choices but Kartik and him clearly aren't on the same page. Set in Mumbai, 'Loose ends' is a messy tale on love, friendship, sexuality and the crossroads we often find ourselves at, between relationships and society.
