Synopsis
Food Jammers is a cooking show featuring Micah Donovan, Chris Martin, and Nobu Adilman; three backyard mechanics who make homebrew cooking equipment using junkyard parts, found objects, and locally sourced ingredients. Cooking is essentially an excuse for them to build things. Inspired by an interest in music and vernacular culture, Food Jammers features a wide range of bands from the likes of Comets on Fire, Snooky Pryor, Stereolab, and Joel Plaskett. The trio is based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and they often shop at local Toronto markets, scrap yards, and the curb-side to find things for their cooking. Three seasons of thirteen episodes have been filmed, plus a one hour special. In the United States, it airs on Cooking Channel and Halogen TV.

- 2. Dehydrated TurkeyNow viewing30mWhile planning a canoe trip, we decided to construct a multi-tiered dehydrator so we could have a full turkey dinner with all the fixings out in the wild. We sliced the pieces, dried them up, then put them back together again so we could reconstitute it in perfect shape on our trip. The result takes the traditional turkey dinner into the realm of the mystical. When we got home from the trip, we used the dehydrator to make the world’s first fruit leather jacket ever.
- 3. Pimp My Cake30mIn celebration of Chris' car Uncle Gummers' fifth birthday, we decided to bake an edible hot rod using modified hydraulics and an old school cake recipe. We visited our pal Hamish who was testing out his home built electroic mini cars in the park, and invited him over to help out with the mission. What ensued was an adventure in baking, airbrushing, air compressing, music and an all-around awesome car birthday party.
- 4. Ultimate Q30mChris, Micah and Nobu are planning to throw the Ultimate barbecue, so they each get to work on their own projects using some unique cooking techniques. Chris cooks a 10-foot sausage using an eavestrough, Nobu builds a bamboo hotel to steam the worlds tiniest tofu-burgers, and Micah works the kinks out of his swinging gyro-chicken.
- 5. Car Jack Pasta30mThat's right!, Chris, Micah, and Nobu use their car's modified jack as a pasta maker. Using flour and eggs for the noodle dough, and the jack to cut out the shaped pasta pieces, they create the perfect pasta dish.
- 6. BBQ Coffee Roaster30mChris, Nobu, and Micah go on a quest to make the perfect cup of Espresso. They need two colanders, a tennis racquet handle, and a BBQ grill to roast their own beans, and work the magic. Watch how the guys use these everyday items to make believers out of the cynics, when they taste test their coffees.
- 7. Pop Shop30mChris, Micah, and Nobu create their own soda fountin in their living room. They make everything from cola to the exotic mixes, and bottle it themselves. Watch how they rig a system using everyday items to pour themselves a soda from the couch.

- 9. Grill Friend30mChris, Micah, and Nobu decide to turn their kitchen into a functional diner, using every day household items. They rig the kitchen sink to pour out their beer, and hook up a diner style sandwich grill. See how the guys pull it off, and even manage a hands-free mixing bowl.
- 10. Food Essences30mChris, Nobu, and Micah gather their inspiration from a popcorn flavored jelly bean. Thinking that they would like to be able to infuse any flavor they want, they go talk to a food sciences professor. Once hearing that it is possible, they gather the tools, and set to it. Watching the simple process of extraction and infusion, is inspiring, as they gather essence of steak, bacon, rosemary, and others. Tune in to see how it is done.
- 11. Everything Is Deep Fried30mThe crew hooks up a deepfryer today, making a ventilation hood out of an old car part from a junkyard. Chris, Micah, and Nobu deep fry everything from potatoes, to donuts, and show us that indeed, everything can, and should be deep fried.
- 12. Chocolate City30mThe guys use a modified vacuum cleaner today, to create a vacu-form, that creates any mold, shape, and form to pour chocolate into. Chris, Micah,and Nobu work together to create a bizarre chocolate city, full of different shapes and flavors.
- 13. Hot Tub Shabu Shabu30mChris, Micah, and Nobu use a galvanized horse trough set above a wall of bricks, and a fire, to create the perfect stove to cook the Japanese dish Shabu Shabu. Tune in, to see how simple it is to hook up this backyard Japanese eatery.
