Synopsis
Seven Periods with Mr Gormsby is a satirical New Zealand television series, created and written by Danny Mulheron, Dave Armstrong and Tom Scott. It stars David McPhail as the titular Mr Gormsby, whose politically incorrect attitudes and "old school" teaching style clash and contrast with the environment at the fictional Tepapawai High School. The show pokes fun at the New Zealand education system but also at modern New Zealand social attitudes more generally. Two seasons have so far been made; the first was broadcast in 2005 on TV ONE in New Zealand and the ABC TV in Australia. The second series was shown in New Zealand in 2006 and in Australia, on ABC2, April 2008. DVDs of the series are sold in Australia through the ABC Shop. The program was filmed at two disused schools in the suburbs of Lower Hutt: the first season at Wainuiomata College and the second at Petone College.

- 1. Period One: The Appalling Mr GormsbyNow viewing2005-05-0630mA new relief teacher is required and the only person is Mr Gormsby. He trys to discipline a student physically and gets in trouble. When the student acts out again he threatens another to get a confession.
- 2. Period Two: Comrade Gormsby2005-05-1330mThe other staff don't like Gormsby and try to get him fired. When Dasent refuses the staff strike and he gives in. But Gormsby learns some tricks from Hohepa's Uncle Dion to get himself reemployed.
- 3. Period Three: Human Relationships2005-05-2030mOne of the boys is having sex with a teacher and an investigation begins after a used condom is found. Agnes aborts Steve's baby.
- 4. Period Four: Open Day2005-05-2730mIt's Open Day at Tepapawai and everyones got something to do except 5F. Steve is mucking round with his new video cameras, Fenn is doing an interpretive dance. 5F are put on car park duty. Everything goes wrong with switched videos, new computers lighting the school on fire and Agnes trying to commit suicide.
- 5. Period Five: The Retarded Boy2005-06-0330mDasent finds out how much money he can make from having physically and mentally handicapped boys at Tepapawai. A reatarded boy joins the school and causes hassle for all the teachers. Eventually Gormsby straightens him out and Steve ruins Dasent's plans with some loud insults.
- 6. Period Six: Coon Tunes2005-06-1030mDasent needs to impress Marion Patterson from the ERO so organises a special talent show. He wants the boys from 5F to do a hip-hop act but Gormsby prefers something a bit different - Coon Tunes.
- 7. Period Seven: The ERO Parade2005-06-1730mThe ERO Report is finally delivered revealing that two teachers must go. News that one of the teachers has a terminal illness sends the fragile Dasent's spirits soaring.
