Synopsis
Kiba, a fantasy anime by Madhouse and Aniplex, began broadcasting on TV Tokyo on April 5, 2006. The series is directed by Hiroshi Kōjina with Upper Deck Japan, a trading card game company, as the main sponsor. The anime has been licensed by Upper Deck USA and produced by ADV Films for North American distribution. The series is more violent than other trading-card-game-tie-in animations with many characters being killed. According to an interview with the March 2006 issue of Animage, Hiroshi Kamishina, the show's director, noted that the show "absolutely will not have any plot elements that curry favor to children". The producers of the show has also commented that Kiba will not be the type of show to put "human drama" on the back burner while concentrating on promotional tie-ins. While Upper Deck owns the rights to the series, ADV Films is the distributor and their production studio Amusement Park Media is producing the dub. Kiba aired on Toonami Jetstream from July 14, 2008 to January 21, 2009 and is now showing on The Anime Network's Video on Demand service.

1. Wind of DestinyNow viewing2006-04-0224mZed seems is just a normal kid, if you don't count the trouble he always gets into and the other problems in his life. His mother in a mental facility of some sort, and his best friend has an incurable disease which weakens his body. But Zed longs for freedom, and has been having strange dreams of a mysterious spirit, which leads him away from his hometown of Calm, and into another world.
2. New World2006-04-0924mZed finds himself in the country of Tenpura, where he meets the sage Zico and his apprentice Roia. There, he learns about Shard Casters, and witnesses the strength of the Spirit that he's been seeing in his dreams.
3. Those With Power2006-04-1624mIntent on learning more about his spirit and his own strength, Zed goes with Roia to see Dumas, a powerful Shard Caster, and the current Shard Champion to learn how to become stronger, and to control his strength. Zedd also meets Miki, Dumas' apprentice, and Robes, a local aristocrat who is also a Shard Caster.
4. The Wind's Decision2006-04-2324mZed watches as Dumas, Miki, Roia, and Robes prepare for the upcoming Joust, a tournament for Shard Casters to compete in for the title of "Shard Champion". Zed wants to fight too, but since he's not a citizen, he must find an alternative way. Meanwhile, Noah is tended to by a young girl and an old man.
5. The Country Of The Buddhist Precepts2006-04-3024mThe battle between Zed and Robes begins. Can Zed do what everyone thinks will never happen and defeat the mighty Robes?
6. Premature Outcome2006-05-0724mGale executes Carter making Noah watch. Noah is then saved and taken to a hiding place by the monument, he was arrested at, by Kis. Now Goverment soldiers have come in and destroyed the park everyone worked so hard to build. Not obly that but the entire village is told they must get ready to leave in three days. This angers Kis and a few other villagers so they decide to fight the soldiers. Can they win against a large foe?
7. Awakened Feelings2006-05-1424mZed and Robes Joust continues with Zed not doing to well. Does Zed have what it takes to win?
8. Betrayal's Whereabouts2006-05-2124mRobes is sent to gaurd Zed because of a note that says that No-Face is planning to steal Zed's Spirit Shard. When Zed gets away from Robes but is caught by him moments later. Why they are talking No-Face appears and knocks out Zed and takes his Spirit Shard. Robes fights him but loses and is framed as No-Face. Now the city is under attack and Zed must face Dumas who is behind Zed's stolen Spirit Shard. Can Zed defeat his own Spirit with only a sword?
9. After the Fight2006-05-2824mZed's spirit does not listen to Dumas, instead attacking the invaders. After the battle, Roya and Zed find a strange girl at the edge of the forest. She asks Zed to lend her his strength.
10. The Lonely Princess2006-06-0424mWhile in Jimoto, Zed meets a princess named Rebecca who was exiled from her kingdom after her father was killed.
11. Premonition of Conspiracy2006-06-1124mHugh succeeds in capturing Rebecca. Zed is furious but he joins Elda when Philip sends her on a mission.
12. The Advance Towards Truth2006-06-1824mHugh demands that Rebecca marry Dumas and reveals that her father may be alive. Robes and Roia are freed and Robes decides he wants to stay and fight Dumas. While all this happens Zed fights a creature for a powerful spirit he can control. Can Zed get the spirit and help the others in time?

He has been trying to find work, since he must support himself now. Roya comes up with the idea of selling Mikki's tasty bread. When Robès sees the boy, he decides to give him a gift.

18. The Prayer That Doesn't Die Out2006-07-3024mThe giant spirit that the was summoned by the people's unconscious begins to fight Hugh and his Shard casters. All is going well until Hugh summons a spirit that the peoples summon devours. When the giant spirit completely devoirs Hugh's spirit it is destroyed from the inside. Can Zed and Roia defeat the Hugh's forces and sve the unconscious villagers?
19. The Land of Darkness2006-08-0624mKis turns up alive but is a fugitive in Neotopia for his acts of terrorism. He escapes with a trasport shard but is caught again when he reaches Calm. When Robes is ordered to take him back, but he suggests Zed do it. When Zed and Kis are ready leave Kis makes a break for it but Roia stops him, she ends up going with Zed and Kis when she stops him though. On their way to Neotopia they go off course and end up on Task. Can Zed get them outta of Tash alive?
20. Reunion2006-08-1324mZed and Kis dash to save Roia! Will they save her in time? And, will Zed meet an old friend in the process...?!
21. Feelings That Won't Be Wiped Away2006-08-2024mAfter realizing that she’s from Tusk, via the horns on her shoulder, Roia becomes confused. Where will she go? Will anyone find out? Will she get the chance to tell anyone?

After Hirama's speach the Joust begins and Zed is up first and will be facing Moreno. Does Zed have what it takes to defeat her?

It looks as though Roia is no match for Kira, but with Roia's will of not being left behind she begins to fight back stronger then ever. Roia's spirit defeats Kira's and Roia is about to kill Kira when Zed yells out to here and she stops. After Kira admits defeat Roia falls unconscious. Noah tells Zed he will have Roia treated at their best hospital but he asks that Zed meet with Hiram. What does Hiram want with Zed and what will happen to Roia?
29. The Friendship That Slipped By2006-10-1524mAs the Neotopian guards take Roia away Zed and Noah square off outside the room. Zed get's tired of fighting Noa and tackles him then runs by to go after Roia and the gaurds. On the way he meets up with Sagiri and with her help finds Roia, but the guards will not let him in. Noah shows up and tells the guards to let Zed pass. After making sure Roia is alright Zed heads back to the Joust. Before he gets there he meets up with Noah and the two start arguing abot what makes a person strong. To show who is right they decide to settle it in thier upcoming match. Does Zed have what it takes to defeat his best friend? And what will happen to Roia?
30. Confrontation2006-10-2224mThe battle between Zed and Noa begins. Noa wants Zed to fight seriously, but Zed doesn't want to hurt his long-time friend. Zed has flash backs during the fight of when he first met Noa and how he was bullied by his "friends." Will Zed be able to fight seriously against his best friend? Meanwhile the Council must decide whether or not to have Roia punished to keep the peace between Tempura and Neotopia?
31. Compensation of Ambition2006-10-2924mNow that Noah has defeated Zed he can advance to the next round. Since Robes didn't show up to fight Noah, Noah gets to go on to the next round and fight Raja, who defeated Herik to advance. As the fight goes on Noah knocks off Raja's mask to reveal that he is Hugh. With his identity revealed Hugh Summons his Key Spirit Puromino and Amil Gaul, whom he stole from Zed, after Noah summons Sachura. Resulting in the defeat of Noah. But when Hugh tries to take Sachura he falls writhing in pain as Amil Gaul falls out of Hugh. Meanwhile Zed is off to fight to get Roia back after Sagiri wakes him up telling him Roia is in trouble. Will Zed be able to save Roia without his spirit?
32. Expectations of a Nation2006-11-0524mZed and Roia get back from Neotopia and they wait the council's decision on what will happen to them because of what they did in Neotopia. Jiko shows up and tells the council he will go talk to Hiram. In Neotopia Jiko and Hiram talk and Jiko tries to persuade Hiram to let Zed and Roia go. Hiram refuses saying Zed needs to be controled. Meanwhile Herik and some other Ulbalkians watch from above. Can Jiko find a way to get Hiram to lift Zed's punishment? And what is Heirk and the other Ulbakians planning?
33. Lost Radiance2006-11-1224mWhile Neotopia sets up for the Foundation Day celebration, Hugh asks for support from Task in a war against Neotopia. While all this is happening Zed falls ill for some strange reason. Roia is healing him but cannot get his fever down. When Zed wakes up he can't seem to feel Amil Gaul. Later on Jiko tells Roia that she and Zed have nothing to worry about since he talked to Hiram about their punishment. When Roia finds Zed she arrives just in time to see Zed and 5 Neotopian soldiers Shard Shift away. What does Neotopia want with Zed?
34. The Rise Of The Flame Of War2006-11-1924mHerik talks to Zed about joining the Ulbakians in fighting against Harim. Meanwhile Hiram sends Noah and Kiira out to find Zed and the Ulbakians and execute them. On the way the notice a large number of Beastmen flying overhead and Noah sends Kiira back to the city to warn everyone while he goes and deals with Zed and the Ulbakians. Meanwhile Roia tries to get the council to let her go after Zed, but they refuse. She then tries to go see Jiko but is told she cannot. Will Noah really kill Zed, has Jiimot and Task officialy declared war on Neotopia, and why has Jiko been imprisoned?
35. The One Who Becomes the Sacrifice2006-11-2624mZed and Noah fight all 4 of Nuduu's spirits. When Zed is to take a hit from one of Nuduu's spirits Noah steps in the way and takes the hit for him. Before Zed can see if Noah is alright Noah gets up and heads towards the city which is now under attack. Can Noah get back in time to save the city?
36. Revived Wings2006-12-0324mThe war continues. Sagiri befriends a beastman from Task who saved her life. Herrick gets a hold of and releases Ex-Machina, a composite spirit but who does he run into when he shifts to Neotopia? Noa confronts Hugh in battle, but how are they brought together? And can Zed finally summon Amil Gaul again?
37. The Fall of the Capital2006-12-1024mThe three key spirits are having trouble bringing down Ex-Machina; that is, until Amil Gaoul changes his form again. Noa and Zed are captured by Hugh as they are being distracted by the condition of Zed's hand. Roia decides to go to Neotopia to help, and Hugh infiltrates the throne room of the capital!
38. An Endless Fight2006-12-1724mJiko arrives in Neotopia to help out Hairam despite his ban. Hairam reveals Noa is to recieve another key spirit, if they can find it. And hostages are brought in by Hugh, who will return them if he gets Hairam's head.
39. The Awakening2006-12-2424mZed takes Hiram to Hugh and tries to pull and fast one to kill Hugh but is fooled then caught. Now Hugh offers a chance for Hiram to live longer if he slays the hostages caught by Hugh. Will Hiram kill Hugh's hostages to save his life? And what does Zed's mom want with Sagiri?
40. Aimed Power2007-01-0724mWith Neotopia under the control of Task Tempura is worried that they will be attacked next. Meanwhile Professor Bender informs Ginga that Ulbaks will be attacked next because of the X-Machina. Not long after Dukem forces show up and the battle is on. Can Ginga stop Dukem or is he completely outmatched?
41. Captured Thoughts2007-01-1424mGinga has returned to the Ulbaks with Zed and Roia only to find that Professor Bender has given up the lab to Task. Now things have changed and Zed, Roia, and Ginga are on the run from the Task army. In a safe spot Ginga reveals his past then goes to face Dukem while Zed and Roia go deal with Professor Bender. Can Zed and Roia stop the mad Professor and can Ginga defeat Dukem?

Becoming impatient Jimu begins to attack Zed while he fights Doruga(Noa). With Zed defeated Jimu takes his Key Spirits. Now with 4 of the Key spirits all Jimu has to do now is get Sachira from Doruga and find Mirette. Can Zed stop him?

To the Place Where the Wind Blows2007-03-2524mThe episode starts with Zed getting enveloped in Tusker's power; Tusker releases himself and uses Zed's body and spread his wings to reveal his true form. While Zed is inside the endless abyss in Tusker getting lectured about how humans are bad because they want power, all the spirits get released. In the end Tusker is defeated, spirits go back to where they came from, Zed tries to attack Amil Gaoul but ends up shifting and merging with Amil Gaoul and teleports to Calm where the city's wind has returned.
