He moves into a dormitory, where he meets some of the people who will turn his life upside down. With him, Bent has his parents' parting gift - a sparkling new video camera. And there's plenty to film in a world that is both captivating and terrifying.

He is tempted by the unattainable Ulla Karin, but it is the nursing student Helle who teaches him what "scrotum" means. He also meets the cheerful Lene Fisker, who spreads good spirits in the dormitory hallway. On the other hand, the mood is almost zero when Bent returns home to Aars at Christmas time.
